Facade systems – Weather Defence

Siniat Weather Defence is a rigid air barrier board used behind facade cladding systems to create a pressure-equalised cavity for rain screen and ventilated facade systems. It provides the quickest way to achieve a weathertight building, which allows internal trades to start their work earlier, reducing construction times.

Weather Defence is safe and easy to work with and saves valuable time. The board can be simply be scored and snapped; being gypsum-based, there is no silica dust risk. The distinctive purple matt liner of Weather Defence boards is non-woven and non-itch.

Joints are easily sealed with Pro Clima tape to form airtight junctions around complex details. An additional pliable membrane may not be required.

Weather Defence's excellent vapour permeability makes it suitable for cold climates. It is classified as vapour-permeable Class 4 and is the only rigid air barrier board that complies with NCC2022 in Climate Zones 6, 7 and 8.

Weather Defence improves the airtightness of the building, which can contribute to its energy efficiency. It is water, weather and mould resistant and can be left exposed on frame for up to 12 months.

Weather Defence rigid air barrier board is now proudly distributed by Siniat in Australia.
